Looking into the gaps
/looking-into-the-gaps/«Looking into the gaps» is an exhibition cycle that looks at the history and the present of Ukrainian art as an ornament of gaps, losses and absences — where what exists is only a frame for what is missing.
The cycle consists of separate chapters, shown at Voloshyn Gallery in Kyiv (2024), Artsvit and DCCC in Dnipro (2025), ART FRONT gallery in Tokyo (2026), and as landscape exhibitions in Sokołowsko (Poland), Berlin (Germany) and on Teshima island (Japan). The aim is a conversation about walking a meaningful path made mostly of obstacles, and about building a coherent story that breaks off again and again.
In this installation the architectural surface becomes a vulnerable carrier of memory, covered with graphic tattoo-scars. Snakes, insects, chimeric creatures and fixed phrases form an inner map of obstacles and traumas. On top of that layer grows painting — bright, existential canvases searching for a new language of corporeality and self-assertion. It is a conversation about how the body remembers every gap, yet keeps carrying new dimensions of being.
