About

Katya Kopeikina is a Ukrainian artist working across painting, sculpture, installation, performance and tattoo.

Her practice turns surfaces — walls, canvases, bodies — into vulnerable carriers of memory, covered with graphic tattoo-scars: snakes, insects, chimeric creatures and fixed phrases that form an inner map of obstacles and traumas. On top of that layer grows painting: bright, existential canvases searching for a new language of corporeality and self-assertion. Grotesque figures, animals, workers and political characters; melted plastic, chains, textile, glass from windows broken by drone attacks.

She has shown work at Voloshyn Gallery (Kyiv), Jam Factory Art Center and Dim42 (Lviv), Artsvit and DCCC (Dnipro), ART FRONT gallery (Tokyo), the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, and in landscape exhibitions in Sokołowsko (Poland), Berlin and on Teshima island (Japan). Residencies in Milan, Salzburg and Berlin.
